The Movies at Founders Park Series continues this weekend at Founders Park, 330 E. Water in Springfield.  See “How to Train your Dragon:  The Hidden World,” rated PG, Friday night (7/19) at dusk and “Crazy Rich Asians,” rated PG-13, Saturday night (7/20).  Take blankets and lawn chairs.  

Springfield Little Theatre’s Summer Institute presents “The Wizard of Oz”Friday and Saturday (7/19-7/20) at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. 

Branson Regional Arts Council presents “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” Friday night (7/19) at 7, Saturday (7/20) at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday (7/21) at 2:30 at the Historic Owen Theatre, 205 S. Commercial in downtown Branson.    

The Branson AquaPlex will host a Night Swim Friday night (7/19) from 7:30 to 10:30 featuring a live DJ, games and activities.  The cost is $3 per person.  

The program “Cosplay in the Stars,” for teens starts Friday night (7/19) at 6 at the Christian County Library Nixa Branch, 208 McCroskey.  

That Geeky Con 2019 is Friday and Saturday (7/19-7/20) at the Quality Inn in Harrison, Arkansas.  

The Discovery Center, 438 E. St. Louis in Springfield, will present the “Science Sprouts: Super Sprouts Costume Party” Friday morning (7/19) at 10.  Kids three to six-years-old will learn how their favorite superheroes can leap tall buildings or shoot webs so quickly.  The program is free with Discovery Center admission.  

The Ozark Mountain Players present "Laura's Memories," an outdoor musical pageant, Friday and Saturday night (7/19-7/20) at 7:30 at Mansfield City Park. 

Springfield Little Theatre presents “Forbidden Broadway” Friday and Saturday night (7/19-7/20) at 7:30 and Sunday (7/21) at 4 at Nathan P. Murphy’s, 218 S. Campbell in downtown Springfield.  

“Space above the Buffalo”will start Friday night (7/19) at 9 at the Buffalo Point Launch Day Use Area at the Buffalo National River.  Join a ranger for a discussion about the night sky, the park's wilderness concept, what the park is doing to protect the night sky, challenges it faces and how park rangers are using this resource as a classroom.  

The Christian County Fair will be held Friday and Saturday (7/19-7/20) at Finley River Park in Ozark with carnival rides, exhibits and more. 

Actors Theatre of Missouri presents Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” Friday and Saturday night (7/19-7/20) at 7 at the Springfield Art Museum Outdoor Amphitheater.  Donations will be accepted.  Take blankets and lawn chairs.  Food trucks will be available.  

The 64th annual Ozark Booster Club IPRA Pro-Rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday night (7/19-7/20) at 8 at Finley River Park in Ozark.  

Bluegrass Nights at the Roaring River State Park Amphitheater continue Friday night (7/19) at 7 with The Sugar Mountain Band. 

Springfield Improv presents “Use Your Words,”literary improve comedy, Friday night (7/19) at 7:30 at 308 South Ave.  

Springfield Improv will present the puppet show for grownups, “No Strings Attached,” Friday night (7/19) at 9 at 308 South Ave.  

The International Country Gospel Music Association is holding their annual convention through Saturday (7/20) at the West Plains Civic Center with concerts that are open to the public.  

The program, “Shedding Light on the Dark,” is Friday night (7/19) at 8:30 at Prairie State Park in Mindenmines.  Learn about nocturnal animals that might be found on a prairie during a 1 mile to 1.5 mile hike.  

MOPACA presents Fiber U Saturday and Sunday (7/20-7/21) at the Cowan Civic Center in Lebanon.  The events promotes fiber arts education in the Midwest and provides a chance to expand your knowledge and skill in working with fiber.  

Storytime Saturdays are held Saturday mornings at 10 through October 26 at Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon.  

The exhibit:  “Remembering D-Day: The 75th Anniversary of the Normandy Invasion,” is at the Joplin History and Mineral Museum, 504 S. Schifferdecker Ave. in Joplin through August 31.  

The exhibit, “Route 66: Highway to the Stars,” is at the Joplin Library, 1901 E. 20th Street, through July 31.  Discover the dreams and adventures of Edwin Hubble; learn about Harlow Shapley--the man who determined our solar system's place in the Milky Way; visit some planetariums and observatories; and soar with astronauts.  

Springfield-Greene County Park Board pools will remain open through mid August.  Splash ‘n Sizzle discounts ($1 or free with a canned food item) are offered daily after 5:30 p.m.

The Eurekan, a three-day multisport festival, is Friday through Sunday (7/19-7/21) in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  

The Springfield Conservation Nature Center will present the program, “Canoeing: An Introduction for Adults” Saturday morning (7/20) at 8:30 at the Lake Springfield Southwood Access.  Registration is required.  

CoxHealth presents “Girls Just Wanna Run,” a 5K and 10K, starting and ending at Cox North Saturday morning (7/20) at 7:30.  

Join a park ranger from George Washington Carver National Monument at the Neosho Historic Schoolhouse, which Carver attended, Saturday and Sunday morning (7/20-7/21) at 11.  Learn about Carver’s time in Neosho and the struggle for an education for black children at that time.  

A DIY Cosplay Workshop will be held Saturday (7/20) from 2 to 4 at the Library Center for kids in grades four through eight.  It’s a chance to start preparing for LibraryCon in August.  

Learn about pollinators and about the process of pollination during the program, “Busy Bees, Busy Blooms,” Saturday morning (7/20) at 10 at Bennett Spring State Park in Lebanon.  

The Theatre Company of the Ozarks presents “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” Saturday (7/20) at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre, 113 W. Rush in Harrison, Arkansas.  

Ha Ha Tonka State Park in Camdenton will host a Night Hike Saturday night (7/20) at 8:30.  

The program, “Rock Painting for All,” will start Saturday (7/20) at noon at the Christian County Library Nixa Branch, 208 McCroskey.  It’s for all ages.  

Kids are invited to a nature-themed game day Saturday (7/20) from 10 to noon at the Ha Ha Tonka Visitor Center.  

Adults are invited to the “Universe of Stories Creative Writing Workshop”Saturday afternoon (7/20) at 2 at the Library Station.  The crash course in storytelling will focus on short and long form fiction.  Registration is required.  

A Wildflower Walk starts Saturday morning (7/20) at 10 at Prairie State Park in Mindenmines.  

The 43rd annual Fair Grove Ice Cream Social will be held Saturday night (7/20) at 5:30 at the Wommack Mill in Fair Grove with live music and tours of the mill.   

Freedom City Church will host the Festival of Hope Saturday (7/20) with free haircuts and food, a bike show, live music, bounce houses, face painting, immunizations and more. 

The program, “Birds: Raptors and Falconry,” will be held Saturday (7/20) at 1. Join master falconer, Meagan Duffee-Yates, as she discusses the history of falconry.  Registration is required.  

“Wildlife: Snakes of Missouri” will allow you to get a close up look at snakes Saturday (7/20) from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  No registration is required.  

Adults are invited to “Acrylics and Canvases” Saturday afternoon (7/20) at 2 at the Republic Branch Library.  Create one-of-a-kind canvases through a guided painting experience.  Materials will be provided.  Registration is required.  

The Basin Park Music Series continues Saturday at 5 p.m. at Basin Spring Park in Eureka Springs, Arkansas with Arlo McKinley and the Lonesome Sound.  

Share at the Square is Saturday (7/20) from noon to 10 p.m. with live music, free popcorn and hotdogs, face painting, speakers and free toys for kids.  

A broomstick lace crocheting workshop will be held Saturday (7/20) from noon to to 4 at the Harlin Museum, 405 Worcester St. in West Plains.  

Springfield Improv presents “The Home Team”Saturday night (7/20) at 7:30 at 308 South Ave.

Learn what edible mushrooms you can find in Missouri during the summer during “Summer Mushrooms”Sunday afternoon (7/21) at 1:30 at the Walter Woods Conservation Area in Joplin.  Registration is required.  

Sunday Make ‘N Play: Robot Edition will be held Sunday afternoon (7/21) from 2 to 4 for kids three-years-old through grade four at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library.  Stop by for robot-themed crafts, games, technology and a storytime at 3.  

Adults are invited to “Sifting through the Ashes” Sunday afternoon (7/21) at 2 at the Library Station.  Author Tim Ritter will discuss brick walls in research, learning to sift through family legends in search of the truth and taking chances that lead to connections to the past.  

The program, “Little Voices,” for kids age two to grade two, will be held Sunday afternoon (7/21) at 3 at the Library Station.  The theme is “Save the Earth.”  The program will include stories, songs and other activities designed to inspire and support positive change.  

The program, “Colors of Water,” will start Sunday morning (7/21) at 9 at the Buffalo Point Launch Parking Lot at the Buffalo National River.  Paint with watercolors with the Buffalo River as a backdrop.  Materials will be provided.
