A major cleanup will take place this weekend at Table Rock Lake. Michele Skalicky has more.

This weekend, 100s of volunteers from across the Ozakrs will converge on the shorelines of Table Rock Lake for the lake's annual cleanup.

The 2007 Shoreline Cleanup, coordinated by the Table Rock Lake Army Corps of Engineers and Table Rock Lake Water Quality, Inc., is still in need of volunteers.

The event's coordinator and project manager for Table Rock Lake Water Quality, Inc. Gopala Borchelt says by the time the cleanup rolls around each year there's lots of garbage to pick up.

Last year the water level in the lake was down considerably, so there was more shoreline to clean up, and Borchelt says volunteers collected a lot of trash.

The main event will be Saturday, but cleanup will start Friday dn go thru Sunday. Dumpsters will be available at public access and park areas during that period.

Borchelt says many different organizations are forming teams to help out this weekend.

You can help even if you're not part of an organized group by picking up trash bags at the Table Rock Lake Water Quality Inc. office in Kimberling City, at the Army Corps of Engineers office at the Dewey Short Visitor Center and at the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce. However, Borchelt says teams that sign up get free t-shirts. and, besides, there's safety in numbers.
