Officials with Springfield Public Schools are looking to fill roughly 65 vacancies as part of a job fair this Monday at Central High School. KSMU’s Anna Thomas has more.

This is the first job fair for class 5 departments within the Springfield Public School District, giving the opportunity for individuals to apply for positions in maintenance, transportation, custodial and nutritional services.

Shane Wagoner is the employment and labor relations manager for the district.

“We thought it was a great idea to open up one of our schools, have the public come in and have the availability to talk to some of our department leads, and make applications, find out what we’re about in Springfield Public Schools, and also the availability of those particular jobs,” Wagoner said.

The fair will be held in the Common Room of Central High School from 2-6pm that Monday, where computers will be made available to fill out applications.

Wagoner says the district hopes to see about 150 to 200 applicants at the fair to talk with the school’s departments. The open positions are for the upcoming school year, starting in August.

If individuals are not able to attend the job fair, Wagoner says they can still apply online or contact the district’s human resource department.
