Eight people have applied for the Zone 2 City Council seat left vacant after Justin Burnett resigned this month. The filing deadline was last Friday.
The applicants include: Drury media relations director, Mike Brothers; Jennifer Capler with Reeves Business Consulting; Jesse Coulter, project manager with Cenergistic; Michael Hines, a retired information technology professional; retired Springfield Public Schools teacher and coach, Kenneth Hopper; Dr. Thomas Prater with Mattax Neu Prater Eye Center; private practice attorney, Robert Sweere and retired Nixa High School teacher, David Trippe.
City Council plans to review the applications and interview candidates at a special city council meeting at noon Tuesday at the Springfield-Greene County Public Safety Center, 330 W. Scott St. The city intends to live stream those interviews, available here.
The appointee will serve until the certification of the April 4, 2017 election. The successful candidate for the Zone 2 seat from the April 4 election will serve the remainder of the unexpired Zone 2 term through April 2019.
