If you come across a pothole on a Missouri highway, the state Department of Transportation wants you to let them know about it.  According to a news release, MODOT is kicking off an enhanced pothole repair initiative today.  They say through the month of March, maintenance crews are committed to repairing potholes with asphalt as quickly as possible after it’s reported.

MODOT state maintenance engineer, Becky Allmeroth, says if someone reports a pothole in the morning, their goal is to repair it before that motorist drives on that road the next business day.  She says they want to keep Missouri roads as safe and smooth as possible.

You can report potholes by calling 1-888-ASK-MODOT 24 hours a day, seven days a week; fill out a Report a Road Concern form online at modot.org, or email a concern to comments@modot.org.

According to Allmeroth, MODOT spends around $15 million a year on pothole patching with the majority of that during the month of March.  MODOT says potholes form when temperatures warm up during the day but continue to be cold at night.
