Local Students to Perform at the Missouri Governor's Mansion

Missouri Department of Conservation

The annual lighting of the Missouri Governor’s Mansion Christmas tree will have some southern Missouri connections.

The tree that will be displayed on the mansion lawn is a 40-foot Norway spruce donated by Mike and Linda Knudson of Lebanon.  It was planted 25 years ago to mark the birth of their son and had grown too big for the space.

The Sparta High School band will perform outside on the front steps during the lighting ceremony, which will start at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 30.

The Bolivar High School Choir will be one of four choirs performing inside the mansion at 6:50 p.m. during a Candlelight Tour.

Candlelight Tours of the mansion will be held immediately following the lighting ceremony on the 30th and from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 1.
