Governor Mike Parson Chosen for Council of Governors

Missouri Governor Mike Parson has been appointed by President Trump to the Council of Governors.  It’s a bipartisan panel of 10 U.S. governors who advise the U.S. secretary of defense, secretary of homeland security and the White House Homeland Security Council on issues related to the National Guard and national defense, U.S. homeland security, civil support missions and disaster response.

Missouri Department of Public Safety director, Sandy Karsten, said in a statement after the appoint was announced that Missouri has “a wealth of experience planning for and responding to natural disasters as well as supporting military missions around the globe through the Missouri National Guard.”  She said they will provide input to Parson as a serves on the Council of Governors.

The Council of Governors was authorized by federal law in 2008 and established in 2010.
