The holiday season is a time to gather with family and friends. But for some residents in nursing homes, they don't have any family or friends with whom to share this festive time. So, council of churches of the Ozarks is extending its long-term care ombudsman program for the holidays. Susan Jackson, spokeswoman for the council of churches explains.

The extension of the long-term ombudsman program for the holidays is something council of churches has done for a number of years. Jackson says it's important to make sure the elderly aren't forgotten at this time of year.

Council of churches is looking to the public for help with this program. Jackson says you can donate money or gift items for the nursing home residents. Though most people are busy during the holiday season, Jackson says it's important to remember to give. And she says this is an easy way to do it.

Those wishing to donate items or cash for the program that benefits nursing home residents during the holidays, council of churches asks you make your donation by December 10th.
