Free mammogram screenings are now available to women of the Ozarks who don’t have insurance for that procedure.

Women who are uninsured or underinsured can receive a free mammogram screening, thanks to a partnership between CoxHealth and the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.

Susan Smith is a manager in the Breast Care Center at CoxHealth.

“There is a definite need out there for women that are either underinsured or uninsured and do not want to have the screening mammogram just due to cost reasons or anxiety or stress,” Smith said. “I can reassure to these women that we will take the utmost care of these women.”

Radiologists will review the results from each mammogram, and those results will be shared with the women.

Women do not need to be patients of CoxHealth, and no appointment is necessary.

Screenings will be offered Thursday, Aug. 23 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Cox North Hospital.

Mammogram screenings will also be offered at Hulston Cancer Center on Sept. 19 and Oct. 22 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A final screening opportunity will be at Cox North Hospital on Oct. 25 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Women looking to participate in the screenings will need to provide the amount of their monthly net income in the application.
