Community Foundation of the Ozarks Encourages Giving this Holiday Season with #CauseMoCheer

Community Foundation of the Ozarks

Not-for-profit organizations across the Ozarks and the U.S. are hoping people will support their favorite causes Tuesday, November 27, which is Giving Tuesday, a global giving movement that takes place annually the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.  The Community Foundation of the Ozarks is partnering with about a dozen not-for-profit organizations in the Ozarks to extend the philanthropy through the entire holiday season.

Nationally, #GivingTuesday is only one day out of the year. CFO is using the day as a kick-off to the entire “giving season.” They are calling the season #CauseMoCheer.

According to the CFO, the public will have the option to donate to one of about a dozen projects by nonprofit organizations in the Ozarks November 27 through Dec. 31.

CFO chief operating officer, Louise Knauer, is working closely with the operation.

“We do have an extensive grant making program, but that’s a little different from this. People make a secure online donation to the Community Foundation, but it’s designated to the agency they are supporting,” Knauer says.

The profits will be distributed to these organizations after a one percent administration fee is collected.

The public can go to www.causemomentum.org to donate to a local project, starting at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.

Here is a list of the non-profit organizations partnering with CFO for #CauseMoCheer:

  • Barry-Lawrence County Development Center Inc. – Monett
  • Clearwater R-1 School District – Piedmont
  • Diaper Bank of the Ozarks – Springfield
  • Drew Lewis Foundation – Springfield
  • Friends of the Garden – Springfield
  • Junior Auxiliary of Taney County – Hollister
  • LovinGrace – Joplin
  • SOAR: Service Oriented Aviation Readiness – Bolivar
  • The Making Hope Fund – Nixa
  • Women’s Medical Respite – Springfield

Again, many not-for-profit organizations, including the ones listed above, are hoping people will support causes they care about on Giving Tuesday.  Contact organizations you wish to help to find out how to donate or visit their websites.
