The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is urging people who have recovered from COVID-19 to donate convalescent plasma or CCP to help those currently hospitalized with the virus.

Usage of CCP in area hospitals has skyrocketed over the past few weeks, according to the CBCO in a news release, and there’s now a critical shortage.  There’s been a 337 percent increase in CCP usage between August and October.

Antibodies present in plasma from recently recovered COVID-19 patients has been found to help those who have the virus.

You can give at a CBCO donor center.  You must have written or electronic proof of a positive COVID-19 test and have recovered from the illness for 14 days.  And the CBCO is offering up to a $100 Visa gift card with FDA funding to those who give.

To make an appointment, call 417-227-5324 or go to cbco.org/covid19.
