Ilga Vise talks with Randall Whitman, senior planner with the City of Springfield's Neighborhoods and Planning Office, about the responsibilities of his office and how citizens can get involved.
The office is a clearinghouse for HUD and CDGB funding and does long-range planning for the city, Whitman says. The Great Neighborhoods Initiative was adopted by the city three years ago. It's a campaign to increase neighborhood activity and create a stronger sense of community, according to Whitman.
