4 of 5 Springfield Council Seats Contested for April

Filing has closed for the four Springfield City Council seats and mayoral seat that will appear on the April ballot.

Current Mayor Bob Stephens is seeking reelection and will face Steven Reed. Danny Lee Henderson turned in materials by the deadline, but has not been certified, according to the city clerk.

The city also reported following Tuesday’s deadline that General Seat C will be sought by Kristi S. Fulnecky and Len Eagleburger. Incumbent Doug Burlison is not seeking reelection. Allen Kemper and Jared Tucker turned in materials by the deadline, but have not been certified.

Ken McClure is unopposed for General Seat D. Current Councilmen Doug Carroll is not seeking reelection.

For Zone 2, currently occupied by Cindy Rushefsky, three people have filed. They are Buckley "Buck" Van Hooser, Justin Burnett and Josh Mareschal.

Councilman Jerry Compton is seeking reelection for Zone 3. He’ll be opposed by Mike Schilling.

The General Municipal Election is Tuesday, April 7.
