If you’re interested in running for Springfield City Council, you may pick up an application and petition for filing today.  The election will be held in April, 2015.

Information for filing will be available online and at the City Clerk’s office beginning at 8 this morning, but you need to pick up petitions for filing in person.

These seats are up for election:

  • Mayor (currently held by Bob Stephens)
  • General Seat C (currently held by Doug Burlison)
  • General Seat D (currently held by Mike Carroll)
  • Zone 2 (currently occupied by Cynthia Rushefsky)
  • Zone 3 (currently occupied by Jerry Compton)

The filing dates for the general election are December 2nd through January 20th.

Those wishing to file petitions must be a qualified voter of the city of Springfield, resident of the city for at least two years prior to the election, and, if filing for one of the zone seats, must be a resident of that zone for at least one year prior to the election.

The General Municipal Election is set for April 7, 2015.

The City Clerk’s office hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.
