100 soldiers from the 1107th Aviation Group reunited with family and friends on Sunday in Springfield after returning from Southwest Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The unit was welcomed by community members like Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, and representatives of Governor Jay Nixon, Senators Roy Blunt and Claire McCaskill, and Congressmen Billy Long.

The unit is the fourth deployment of the group, conducting aviation depot repair and retrograde aviation logistical operations in both Afghanistan and Kuwait.

During its time overseas, the group accumulated over 12,000 depot-level maintenance hours, returning over 25 rotary winged aircraft to an operational status.

The 1107th was awarded the Safety Streamer for placing in the top 25 percent of the 1,898 units surveyed by the Army Readiness Assessment Program. The unit maintained zero Class A and B accidents during the deployment.
