Missouri Voters Can Now Register and Change Address Online

None

Missouri now has an online tool that allows citizens to register to vote online.  KSMU’s Jennifer Davidson has details.

The new formis on Secretary of State Jason Kander’s page.  It allows Missourians to sign up as voters in one step, rather than going from office to office. The online tool also lets voters change their registration address.

In a release, Kander said his office is committed to ensuring that all eligible Missourians have the opportunity to cast a ballot.

Once the voter completes and signs the form on a computer, tablet or smartphone, Kander’s office will print and mail the form to the voter’s local election authority, the release said. The new process is not expected to put an additional burden on local election officials.

“Since you can’t vote unless you’re registered, we decided to do what we could to simplify the process and make it more convenient for voters,” Kander is quoted in the release.

After receiving the registration information online, the Elections Division in Kander’s office will review the forms.

According to Kander’s office, fifteen other states, including Indiana and Kansas, already use online tools for voter registration.
