Nixon on Crutches After Tearing Calf Muscle

Governor Nixon tore his calf muscle Wednesdaywhile playing pick-up basketball at his church in Jefferson City. KSMU’s Theresa Carter has more.

Scott Holste, spokesperson for Nixon, said that governor is walking with the aid of crutches, and is fitted with a special boot during his recovery period.

Despite his calf muscle injury, Nixon did travel to Harrisonville Friday to show his support for the 1139th Military Police Company of the Missouri National Guard, as 185 soldiers there are now preparing for deployment to Iraq.

Holste said that Nixon has had to make some minor adjustments to his schedule, and will not be traveling any more today once he returns to Jefferson City.

For KSMU news, I’m Theresa Carter.
