With polls closing Tuesday for the primary election, local election authorities report a smooth election day, despite a few changes. KSMU's Brett Moser reports.
For the Greene County Clerk's office, the state primary means business as usual regarding election procedures. Greene County will use the same voting technology in November that its using for the primary today.
Chief Deputy County Clerk Lorrie Bruer says most polling practices are mandated by state and federal law. But she says there are a few subtle differences between state and federal elections concerning regulations for handicap accessible touch screen technology.
Locally, Bruer says what makes today different is the fact that eight precincts have been moved to new sites.
Bruer says each voter is notified by mail of a polling place change to minimize confusion come election-day.
As of this morning, Bruer says other that since the polls opened, voting in Greene county has been running smoothly.
The Christian County Clerk's office says they've not made any polling place location changes since the last election and report no major problems with voting today.
