Congressman Roy Blunt Endorses Hulshof for Governor
Republican Congressman Roy Blunt announced Monday that he's throwing his support behind fellow Congressman Kenny Hulshof for governor. KSMU's Jennifer Moore reports.
Blunt said he's worked with Hulshof for 12 years.
He said Hulshof's degree in agriculture economics as well as his history as a prosecutor are in line with Missouri values.
Upon receiving the endorsement, Hulshof said he was gaining momentum leading up to the August 5th primary election.
Hulshof's opponent in the gubernatorial primary is Missouri state treasurer Sarah Steelman, who is also a Republican.
The Democratic candidate for governor, Attorney General Jay Nixon, stands unopposed in the primary.
Monday's endorsement took place at the Candlewood Suites Hotel in Springfield.
