KSMU's Greg Leuthen caught up with Danette Proctor, the Chair of the Greene County Republican Party, just after the polls closed on Super Tuesday.
Leuthen: This is Greg Leuthen for KSMU. I'm here with Danette Proctor, she's the Chair of the Greene County Republican Party. Danette, it's election night, what's going through your mind?
Proctor: It's exciting. The turnout is overwhelming.
Leuthen: Is that typical for Greene Country elections?
Proctor: This is larger than most Greene County elections.
Leuthen: Why do you think that is?
Proctor: These are contentious races on both sides. There's a lot at stake and a lot of good candidates, and everyone wants to get their candidate in.
Leuthen: Why doesn't the Republican Party have a watch party here in Springfield?
Proctor: A lot of times we (the Greene County Republican Party) do not have one in the primaries because we don't endorse one particular candidate.
Leuthen: How important of an impact do you think Missouri will have both in the primaries and in the presidential election in November?
Proctor: I think Missouri will have a big impact. Usually the way Missouri goes is the way it goes throughout the United States for the presidential race.
Leuthen: Do you know why only Mike Huckabee has visited Springfield recently and the other republicans didn't? At the same time, two democrats did. Bill Clinton came to endorse Hillary and John Edwards came just before he withdrew from the race. Do you know why that would be?
Proctor: No I do not. I wish they would have been here though.
Leuthen: Alright, Danette, thanks for your time.
