Gov. Matt Blunt visited High Point Elementary School in Nixa Monday to announce that it is one of 100 schools in Missouri that will be receiving funding for a new technology classroom. KSMU's Greg Leuthen reports.

The grant program provides 2.9 million dollars in grants to 100 schools across Missouri for technology equipped classrooms. The program enhances Missouri's Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies, or eMINTS. Blunt says eMINTS will not only help students in science, math, and technology, but it also teaches teachers as well.

Nixa Junior High will receive funding for an eMINTS classroom along with High Pointe Elementary School. Blunt says each of the classrooms will be fully equipped with plenty of technology.

Fourteen hundred classrooms around the state now share these technologies through the eMINTS program. Blunt explains why he wants to help that number continue to grow.

Blunt also announced funding to pay a portion of the advanced placement test fees for high school students to encourage them to take the courses in the areas of math and science.
