Greene County Is Without Absentee Ballots

Absentee voting started today but Greene County does not have absentee ballots. KSMU's Missy Shelton reports. (KSMU's Christy Hendricks contributed to this report.)

Absentee balloting started Tuesday in Missouri for the November seventh election, but some counties don't have any ballots.

Greene County Clerk Richard Struckoff says Greene County doesn't have any absentee ballots because of a last minute change to the ballot.

Even though the court decision to add the tobacco amendment is a statewide issue, some counties got their ballots on time.

Struckoff says counties use different vendors so some already have their absentee ballots.

Richard Struckoff says Greene County can accommodate those who must vote this week.

Struckoff says he hopes there won't be any problems in election results from not having the absentee ballots on time.

As for registration, Richard Struckoff says voters have until October 11th.

To register to vote go to any university, public school, or library in Greene County.

Those who have moved within the county can fill out a change of address card up to election day.

The election is November 7th and Richard Struckoff says he hopes Greene County will have absentee ballots by next week.
