CoxHealth Hires Dozens of Traveling Nurses, RTs; Pursues More

The COVID-19 surge in southwest Missouri fueled by the delta variant is having a signifcant impact on area hospitals.

CoxHealth CEO Steve Edwards said Monday they’re currently seeing a 34 percent symptomatic COVID-19 positivity rate.

He wrote on Twitter his hospital had more than 125 COVID inpatients on Monday.

CoxHealth continues to seek more healthcare workers to help with the surge in patients with COVID.  According to Edwards, they’ve been able to bring in 141 traveling nurses and respiratory therapists.  Sixty-six more are scheduled to start by July 26th.  But he said they’re pursuing more.
