Springfield-Greene County Health Department Reports 17 More COVID-19 Deaths

Seventeen more Greene County residents have died of COVID-19.  The Springfield-Greene County Health Department announced the deaths on Wednesday.  The fatalities were reported to the department between January 20th and 26th.

They were a man and a woman in their 50s, a man and a woman in their 60s, three men and two women in their 70s, two men and a woman in their 80s and two men and three women in their 90s.  Four of them were associated with long-term care.

The health department has reported a total of 381 deaths in Greene County since the pandemic began.

As of Wednesday, there were 4,602 active COVID-19 cases in the county. There were 130 people hospitalized in Springfield with the illness, and 36 were in critical care.  There had been a 15 percent decrease in cases in the last week.
