As Temperatures Soar, Springfield-Greene County Park Board Offers Options For Cooling Off

Springfield-Greene County Park Board

Much of the Ozarks is under a heat advisory again Thursday.  And the Springfield-Greene County Park Board is offering some options for staying cool.

During heat advisories, heat relief areas are open during normal business hours at these locations:

  • Jordan Valley Ice Park, 635 E. Trafficway, 417-866-7444
  • Chesterfield Family Center, 2511 W. Republic Rd., 417-891-1616
  • Dan Kinney Family Center, 2701 S. Blackman Rd., 417-891-1500
  • Doling Family Center, 310 E. Talmage St., 417-837-5900

Capacity is limited, according to the Park Board. Chairs are provided, but they must remain spaced 6 feet apart to prevent the spread of COVID-19.   No programming is planned for heat relief areas.
Another Park Board option for staying cool is the Ozark Stream and Fountains at Jordan
Valley Park.  The stream runs continuously throughout the day.  The fountain show takes place every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for about 30 minutes.  The fountain runs continuously 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Indoor pools are open at Doling and Chesterfield family centers, and there is an admission fee.
