Springfield Businessman, MSU Benefactor Dead At Age 74

A long-time businessman in Springfield has died. Ed Pinegar was 74 when he died on Saturday.  He opened Pinegar Chevrolet in Republic in 1979, which is still in business today.  He later opened Pinegar Chevrolet, Buick, GMC in Branson.

Missouri State University released a statement that said the MSU community mourns the loss of a long-time supporter and friend.

Pinegar graduated from Missouri State.  He served on the Board of Governors from 1985 to 1991 and has been on the MSU Foundation Board of Directors since 1999.

Pinegar and his wife, Carol, made a major donation in the mid 2000s to the renovation of the main horse arena at MSU’s William H. Darr Agriculture Center.  The facility was renamed Pinegar Arena.

In 2004, Pinegar received Missouri State’s Outstanding Alumni Award.
