Springfield-Greene County Park Board Delays Opening Restrooms, Water Features

Springfield-Greene County Park Board

If you go to a park in Greene County, make sure you use the restroom before you leave home.  The Springfield-Greene County Park Board is postponing the seasonal reopening of restrooms, drinking fountains and interactive fountains to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Restrooms and fountains are usually re-opened in early April.

The Park Board has also closed several restrooms that have been open through the winter as well as chemical toilets.

Restrooms remain open at the busiest parks in the system: Nathanael Greene, Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park, Lake Springfield Boathouse and Sequiota Park.

According to the Park Board, their decision was made because of the need to clean and disinfect any open restroom at a minimum of every four hours to help prevent spread of COVID-19.

Interactive fountains at Jordan Valley Park, Founders Park and Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park will remain closed while state and local emergency orders prohibit gatherings of 10 or more people.
