Springfield-Greene County Libraries Implement Changes To Deal With Coronavirus Concerns

Update:  Springfield-Greene County Libraries are closed.

Original Story:  So far, Springfield-Greene County Library branches are open amid concerns about the coronavirus.  But the district is implementing changes.  The library is extending Wi-Fi access 24/7 to parking lots at all branches where possible.

And it’s canceled all programs through March 31.  It’s also canceled all visits by library staff outside of the building, including the Walking Books program.  It’s extended the due dates on all currently checked out items through March 31, canceled all reservations and access to study, conference and meeting rooms and is limiting public access to computers by disabling alternating stations.  That’s to allow for the social distancing recommended by health officials.

And the library has boosted the cleaning and sanitizing of frequently touched surfaces.

Library officials encourage patrons to wash hands after touching materials they’ve checked out.

The Library will continue to monitor the news and recommendations of health officials and will take additional steps as needed.
