According to MDC, it's best to prune trees in winter when they're dormant.

The Missouri Department of Conservation is hosting free tree pruning workshops next month to help you prepare for the winter months ahead.

If you’re wondering which types of trees need pruning and how to do it, you’re in luck.

Two workshops will take place in Joplin. The one on Nov. 5 will be at the Walter Woods Conservation Area, and the Nov. 17 workshop will be at Cunningham Park.

In Lamar, the MDC will offer a workshop Nov. 8 at the Thiebaud Auditorium.

The final workshop will be in Mount Vernon on Nov. 29 at the Mount Vernon Arts and Recreational Center.

All workshops begin at 6:30 p.m.

To register for a workshop call 417-629-3424.
