Free Clinics Offer Flu Vaccine to Uninsured Greene County Residents

The leaves are changing and the temperature is dropping — two telltale signs that flu season is upon us.

Uninsured adults can get a free flu vaccine at several upcoming clinics, according to the Springfield-Greene County Health Department.

The next ones will take place on Sunday, October 21.  The flu clinic at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 1609 N. Summit Avenue, will run from 1 to 3 PM.

And the flu clinic at South Fremont Freewill Baptist and Korean Church, at 4547 S. Fremont Avenue, will run from 2:30 to 3:30 that same Sunday.

Health department officials say those who get a new flu shot by the end of October should be protected against this year’s most common flu viruses.

These clinics are free for Greene County residents without health insurance and are available at the following dates and times:

Wednesday, Oct. 3, 8:30 a.m. - noon and 1 - 2:30 p.m.

Salvation Army, 1707 W. Chestnut Expressway

Sunday, Oct. 21, 1 - 3 p.m.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1609 N. Summit Ave.

Sunday, Oct. 21, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

South Fremont Freewill Baptist & Korean Church, 4547 S. Fremont Ave.

Tuesday, Oct. 23, 3 - 7 p.m.

Hand-in-Hand Multicultural Center, 1436 W. Hovey

Wednesday, Oct. 24, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1609 N. Summit Ave.

Friday, Oct. 26, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Crosslines, 615 N. Glenstone Ave.

Wednesday, Nov. 7, 5 - 6 p.m.

Grace United Methodist Church, 600 S. Jefferson Ave.
