Convoy of Hope, a Springfield-based aid organization, has dispatched a team in response to severe flooding in Myanmar. Heavy rains, a result of monsoon season, have displaced more than 200,000 people. The floodwaters have destroyed thousands of structures and 30,000 acres of cropland.
The Convoy of Hope team planned to leave Monday morning and arrive Tuesday. They’ll work with local volunteers to distribute food, water filters and other relief supplies.
