Hungry in the Ozarks to Benefit from Chicken Donation

freshdirect.com

Those who rely on food banks for groceries will get extra protein thanks to a donation to Ozarks Food Harvest.

Smart Chicken has donated nearly 6500 pounds of frozen chicken as part of its 13th annual Feed the Hungry campaign.

The food bank will use the donation to help its member agencies provide meals to area residents in need.

Over the last ten years, Ozarks Food Harvest has received nearly 100,000 pounds of poultry from Smart Chicken.

The company’s Feed the Hungry promotion donates one pound of poultry for every 10 pounds of produce purchased during November at southwest Missouri grocery stores.

Ozarks Food Harvest serves 200 organizations in 28 Ozarks counties.  It distributes 14 million meals annually to more than 260,000 unduplicated individuals.
