A candlelight vigil is planned Thursday evening for a Nixa High School student that was killed following a car accident this past weekend.

16-year-old Vincenzo Keith died Sunday from injuries sustained when the vehicle in which he was riding ran off a bridge, flipped over and was submerged. The crash happened nine miles south of Buffalo on Rocksdale Road over Greasy Creek.

The driver of the van and another passenger suffered minor injuries. All three were wearing seatbelts.

Kieth was a sophomore at Nixa High School and member of the football team. In a statement earlier this week, his head coach Rich Rehagen said "We’ve lost a great student and player.  He was a great kid.  A hard worker.  And always had a great attitude.   His team will miss him and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

Family and friends have been asked to gather for a candlelight vigil on Thursday at 6:00 pm at Union Hill Church of Christ. That’s located 865 N Nicholas Road in Nixa.
