Timmons Temple is expected to move from its current site at 934 E. Webster to its new home in Silver Springs Park next week.
Preparations for the move are well underway, according to the Save Timmons Temple citizen committee. The committee worked to raise money to save the historic black church to make way for an apartment building project.
The building is currently shored up by a massive steel infrastructure and is free from its old foundation. The first part of the moving process will involve turning the building 180 degrees to face south and then moving it just north of its new location in the park while a new foundation is built for it.
The move is tentatively set to take place March 25th or 26th.
A fundraiser for items for the building is underway at savetimmonstemple.org.
