Airport Flights Delayed or Cancelled Due to Winter Weather
Officials at the Springfield-Branson National Airport say that about half of the scheduled flights were delayed or cancelled because of the ice storm. KSMU's Jana Greer has more.
The Midwest has been hit hard by winter weather, leaving some travelers stuck in the airport due to flight delays or cancellations. Kent Boyd is the Spokesperson for the Springfield-Branson National Airport. He says the storm from last night put flights behind right away.
United Airlines even cancelled all its flights coming in and out of Springfield today. Boyd says it wasn't just because of Springfield weather conditions, but also because of the winter weather that has hit the Chicago area.
To determine what flights will be delayed or cancelled the Springfield-Branson National Airport is currently looking at weather maps and is tracking another winter storm that is predicted to come through tonight. Boyd says that cancellations are not easy to predict.
The airport's website has flight cancellation information; you can get to that website by using the link at KSMU.org. If your flight is still scheduled to depart, airport officials say you should arrive at the airport an hour and a half before your flight.
