The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers of Stockton Lake are preparing for the annual Stockton Lake Cleanup. This is the eleventh year the event has been held and they are looking for volunteers to help keep the lake a safe place for the community. KSMU's Jana Greer has more

On September 8, many people will be waking up early to help improve their community through the annual Stockton Lake Cleanup. Donna Butler is the Administrative Support for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers of Stockton Lake. She says the event is held every year.

Along with picking up trash, volunteers will be working on hiking trails, and planting trees, shrubs and flowers. Butler says that the work done on cleanup day is important to the community.

There are still volunteers needed for the lake cleanup. Volunteers will be meeting at the west end of the dam at 8:00 am on September 8. Lunch will be provided along with live music and door prizes. Butler says you won't regret volunteering for this event.

To sign up to volunteer for the lake cleanup you can contact the Corps of Engineers Stockton Lake Project Office at 417-276-3113.
