Let’s face it: Infectious diseases are scary. On a personal level, we want to avoid them and want to protect our loved ones as well. If you’re in a health care profession, you’re much more likely to be exposed. Then, professionally, you run the risk of cross-contamination if you’re not taking all proper precautions.
Natalie Allen, clinical instructor in the biomedical sciences department at Missouri State University, says that each year, the College of Health and Human Services at Missouri State University hosts a Multidisciplinary Forum to address trending topics in the health related fields. This year, Allen says it will be hosted on Nov. 10, and she invites the community to come.
Zika, Ebola and MRSA are just some areas of concern, which will be addressed via a guest speaker, some table discussions and demonstrations.
Even if you’re not in a health profession, Allen notes that understanding the spread of diseases, and gaining a greater understanding of the measures in place at the hospitals, will provide insight as you read headlines in the future.
This free event will be held in the Plaster Student Union Ballroom Nov. 10 from 6-8:30 p.m.
