Work Continues On Projects Funded By Proposition S

Here’s an update on the projects being funded by Proposition S, approved by Springfield voters in April for Springfield Public Schools.

The Board of Education has awarded a $9.3 million contract to Dewitt & Associates to build a new southwest early childhood education center, which will be located near Carver Middle School.  Construction is expected to start next month, and the center is slated to open in August 2020.  It will serve up to 250 preschool students.

Sunbelt Environmental Services has been awarded a $22,340 contract for lead abatement at six schools prior to construction of secure entrances at those locations.  They are:  Cowden, Field and Twain Elementary Schools, Reed Academy and Jarrett and Pipkin Middle Schools.
