Local Business Steps Up to Help Kids

Boys at Truman Elementary School went back to school in style last week.  Rogue Barber Shop offered a day of free haircuts thanks to Truman fifth-grade teacher Matt McNeese and his neighbors, Ryan and Dacey Mulcahy who own the barbershop.

On a day the shop is usually closed, the owners opened up and gave haircuts to Truman students.  For many, it was their first professional haircut.

They now plan to do “Fades for Grades.”  After the first quarter, kids with all A’s can take their report card to Rogue for a free haircut.  They’ll continue the program each quarter.

Truman principal Dr. Joellyn Travis hopes to make new partnerships with other businesses throughout Springfield.
