MSU Presidential Search Continues
All 20 committee members gathered to define how to evaluate each of the 38 applicants. They also went over information on how to review applicants and were updated on how to access these resources online.
The Presidential Search Committee Chairman, Joe Turner says the committee will be judging the applicants on a number of different criteria.
“The results will be that we will have a frame work for evaluating the applications so that the individual committee members can then go and can each individually evaluate the applications before we meet again in August,” said Turner.
The Presidential Search Committee consists of six faculty members from six different academic colleges, one academic administrator, two MSU staff members, two MSU students, one representative from the West Plains campus and five members from outside the University.
Board Member Wes Pratt says the board will be using an evaluation matrix, a tool that allows board members to numerically rate qualifications. This is used to identify the candidate who best matches the required and preferred skills from the 38 presidential candidates.
Some of these qualifications include leadership experience, a commitment to academic quality and shared governance, and a commitment to promoting and valuing diversity and cultural competence in a university environment.
The board hopes to have a final decision made by November 1st.
