The Greene County Commission has appointed an interim official to serve as emergency management director.

Larry Woods will assume the role during the search for a permanent director.

Last week, Chet Hunter announced his resignation to take an emergency management position in St. Louis. Hunter’s last day in office is Aug. 26.

Woods has been with the Office of Emergency Management for the last 16 years, and has served as the deputy director for the last 13 years.

Woods has more than 30 years of public safety experience, having previously served as the 911 and emergency management director for Laclede County for five years and as an emergency medical technician for American Medical Response in Kansas City, MO. He has also served in the fire service and law enforcement.

Applications for the office of Emergency Management Director, found here, will be accepted until Sept. 8.
