A new temporary exhibit opens today at the Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield visitor center to commemorate the role of Irish-Americans in the Civil War. The exhibit will be available for public viewing from now through June 30, 2019. According to Supt Hillmer, “If you have not visited the park for some time, this exhibit will be worth your time to revisit and reconnect with Wilson’s Creek NB.”
Highlighting the exhibit are a number of unique artifacts, on loan from a generous private collector, that were either carried by Irish-Americans during the Civil War or were used by native-born soldiers who served alongside Irishmen. These include a drum, photographs, swords, pistols and personal items.
