Casey’s General Stores plans to build what it’s calling a “state-of-the-art warehouse, logistics and distribution facility” in Joplin. In a news release, the company says it will be their third distribution center and will initially serve 400 to 600 of Casey’s stores. The company operates more than 2100 convenience stores throughout the Midwest and South.
Ed Vaske, vice president and transportation and distribution for Casey’s, cited Joplin’s geography and ability to serve the company’s growing market areas for the decision.
Joplin Mayor Gary Shaw called the announcement “a boost for our local economy.”
According to the news release, “The project is subject to the finalization of Casey’s due diligence and the approval of all the economic development incentives.”
