  • Movies at Founders Park start tonight (7/8).  The featured movie tonight is “Shrek Forever After.”  “Meet Me in St. Louis” will be shown tomorrow night (7/9).  Movies start at dusk at Founders Park in downtown Springfield.  Free tickets are available at Chesterfield and Doling Family Centers, Mediacom Ice Park, the Busch Municipal Building and at Mediacom Offices, 1533 S. Enterprise.
  • The Springfield-Greene County Library offers a variety of programs this weekend.  For a complete list, visit thelibrary.org.  The Midtown Carnegie Branch Library presents “Movie Madness” this afternoon (7/8) at 2:30 for students in grades 6 thru 12.  Watch a movie rated PG-13 or under.
  • The Springfield-Greene County Library, the Ozark Steam Engine Association and the Southwest Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association will team up to present the program “Steam Back in Time” this morning (7/8) at 10 at the Steam Engine Grounds.  For details, 732-7284.
  • It’s Open Mic Night tonight (7/8) at 7 at the Park Central Branch Library.
  • The Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center will host a 4-H Horticulture and Vegetable Exhibit today and tomorrow (7/8-7/9) from 11 am to 6 pm.  The Center is located in Nathanael-Greene/Close Memorial Park.
  • The exhibit “Divided Loyalties:  Civil War Documents from the Missouri State Archives” is at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield thru September 25th.  For details, 732-2662.

  • Learn about venomous snakes of Missouri tomorrow afternoon (7/9) at 2 at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  Then, see live specimens of Missouri’s venomous snakes on display at the Nature Center from 3 to 4.  For details, 888-4237.
  • A Civil War Expo and Joplin Fundraiser will be held tomorrow (7/9) from 9 am to 5 pm at the Valley Water Mill Equine Center.  Go north on Glenstone, right on Valley Water Mill Rd., left on Barnes and watch for signs.  Listen to Civil War music, watch firing demonstrations and learn about artillery, see a Civil War fashion show and more.  Admission is a $2 donation for adults.  Kids 12 and under get in free.
