Thursday is Veteran’s Day, and one business will be honoring local veterans with a free car wash as a way to say “thank you.” KSMU’s Theresa Bettmann reports.

On Thursday, both the Springfield and Joplin locations of the In and Out Car Wash will be giving complimentary car washes to active military personnel and veterans. Greg Byler is owner of In and Out Car Wash. He says that he began doing this about four years ago in Joplin. Byler says that he himself has had many family members who were veterans, and feels that they just don’t always get the recognition they deserve.

“A lot of times they don’t get the pat on the back, or thank-you that they should. It’s not easy service. There are a lot of people that forget that freedom is not free. There are a lot of people who are out there standing on a wall, so to speak, that make sure that what we have is sacred and it’s going to be here because they are out there doing their job. And we appreciate it,” said Byler.

Byler says his car wash offers many options ranging from an express wash to a more deluxe wash, and that veterans and active military personnel can receive any car wash of their choice for free.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. this Thursday. The locations are: 2233 North Glenstone in Springfield, and 3040 East 7th Street in Joplin.
