Many area roadways are covered or partly covered, and the Springfield Police Department is on emergency status for accident response.  If all vehicles are operable, the accident is non-injury and no alcohol or drugs are involved, you're asked to make a walk-in accident report.

Megan Terry is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Springfield.

"We have a large area of snow spreading across the area.  There is some sleet mixing in mainly along and south of Highway 60, so we do expect the snow and the snow/sleet mix to continue through the day," she said.

According to Terry, three to five inches of accumulation is expected along the I-44 corridor with higher amounts in central and west central Missouri.
