Allow extra time to clean off your vehicles this morning. And drive carefully—roads are still snow covered after the winter storm that began Thursday afternoon.
Doug Cramer, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Springfield, says snowfall amounts varied across the region.
"The National Weather Service has collected quite a bit of data overnight and this morning, and it appears as though the heaviest axis of snow runs from about Table Rock Lake up to Hartville and Houston, MO where we've had a swath of four to six inches within that area. Now, once you get north of that axis up towards Springfield we have officially measured 4.2 inches here in Springfield and then much lesser amounts north of Interstate 44 up towards Bolivar and Stockton Lake. Some of those areas have only received about a dusting," he said.
Cramer says we could see another one to one and a half inches in the Springfield area before the storm moves out later today. Areas around Eminence and Winona could get another four to five inches.
We could have some light snow on Sunday, but Cramer says they expect little to no accumulation.
It’s going to be a cold weekend with lows possibly dipping below zero.
