Blunt says during the first months of the insurgency in Syria he believed the US should help establish a safe zone for refugees and those challenging al Assad. But he says the longer the situation is allowed to drag on in the Middle East the harder it is to impact in a positive way.
Blunt says, although he respects President Obama’s responsibilities as commander-in-chief, he’s not convinced the President’s strategy lines up with the policy goals the US should have or that the Administration currently has realistic policy goals in Syria.
