Southwest Missourians have been enjoying unseasonably warm temperatures this fall season, but experts say that cold weather will be here just in time for Thanksgiving. KSMU’s Theresa Bettmann talked to the National Weather Service and has more.
Although it may seem unusually warm outside, winter-like cold weather is just around the corner. Drew Albert is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Springfield. He says that a cold front will be moving into southwest Missouri, bringing with it the chance for much needed rain. However, Albert says that temperatures won’t become noticeably cooler until later in the week.
“The real cold air looks to be coming in Wednesday night, with a stronger cold front right before Thanksgiving. We are looking for high temperatures on Thanksgiving to only be in the 30’s, with low temperatures Thanksgiving night into Friday morning to be in the lower 20’s,” Albert said.
Albert says that a gradual warming trend will begin this weekend, with temperatures expected to return to the normal range for this time of year, with highs in the 50’s and lows in the 30’s. For KSMU News, I’m Theresa Bettmann.
