Missouri Treasurer Clint Zweifel says Missourians can now submit a Sunshine request to his office online. KSMU's Jennifer Moore has details.

Missouri’s so-called "Sunshine Law" details how citizens can obtain public records.

Before now, Zweifel says Missourians had to use a paper-based process.

"This is simpler. This is easier. I think this is more citizen-friendly. It really supports what I think the positives of the internet are, which is the free flow of information,"Zweifel said.

Zweifel says anyone wishing to fill out a Sunshine request with his administration can visit the website: http://www.treasurer.mo.gov/Sunshine/SunshineLawRequest.aspx.

Missouri law says the state must respond to open records requests within three business days of receiving the request.
